A Personal Letter From Toyin

My name is Toyin, and I'm the creator of Business Compass.
But long before I studied Data Analytics, completed a Master's degree in Data Science in the UK, or began helping organisations use data to make better business decisions, I was simply the daughter of a businessman.

Watching him also taught me something I'll never forget.
In his cocoa export business, many farmers trusted him enough to supply their produce before receiving full payment. After successful export transactions, outstanding balances were settled.
But because payments and records weren't consistently tracked and reconciled, some invoices that had already been paid were unknowingly presented again - and paid again.
The losses weren't caused by poor products.
They weren't caused by a lack of customers.
Sometimes they weren't even caused by dishonesty.

That question eventually shaped my career.
I studied Data Analytics, completed my Master's degree in Data Science in the UK, and have had the privilege of working with medium and large organisations that generate enormous amounts of business data.
